Media For A Little TLC

Sometimes loving yourself is hard, and just indulging in a bit of media addiction is the best way to put a smile on your lips, being the last course of action available to you. So here are a couple of my favorite things to look through when I get down- I hope you guys can enjoy them as much as I do!


Rock What You’ve Got, by Katherine Schwarzennager: Coming from a girl who seemed to have it all, this book about the strength and passion you need to come to terms with who you are inspires a new persona in you to take charge and ‘rock what you’ve got’

I Am Malala, by Malala Yousafzazi: The girl who was shot by the taliban for wanting education for women finally speaks out, and her words will do nothing but calm and reassure you in the beauty of the world, even amidst all the chaos

In The Water They Can’t See You Cry, by Amanda Beard: An olympian hiding the fact that under all the gold, she was just as insecure as the rest of us. Her story about pushing through the pain and learning to love herself will inspire you to turn your perspective around

Eat, Pray, Love, by Elizabeth Gilbert: A true story about an identity crisis and the courage it took to find the answer to the question, who am I? Not only riveting, but also forces you to stop and look at your own life, begging the question, how am I loving myself?


@teresabommarito: an account all about positive body image and working towards a dream you- full of good vibes and positive body image

@humansofny: every picture holds a story of a real person, with a real story of pain, reminding you that challenges can be faced and conquered, if only with a little courage

@gypsea_lust: a girl who travels the world and captures the pure beauty of it, reminding you there’s always something better out there

@poemsporn_: drown yourself in beautiful words and remember that even in pain, there is always some light


Parks and Recreation: Just a wonderful little mockumentary about the parks and recreations department of Pawnee filled with light hearted jokes and fun jests- sure to bring a smile to your face

Modern Family: A good reminder that your family isn’t the only crazy one around, but that they’re just a phone call away once you’re ready to talk

Shawshank Redemption: Yes, it’s got jail and anger and pain, but it’s also about redemption and finding your way, and the wonders of friendship and love

Forrest Gump: A man who was never supposed to get anywhere in life finds his way, trial after trial, and his journey will do nothing but warm your heart
